Method
Cut the squid tubes into equal sized rings. Place the milk in a bowl and add the squid, allow to sit for one hour.Mix all the tartar sauce ingredients together and season well. Set to one side.
Once the squid is ready, place the flour, paprika, salt and pepper into a bowl and mix until combined. In a separate bowl add the eggs.
Dip each calamari ring into the egg then flour and set place the in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not overcrowded. (you may need to cook these in batches).
Lightly spray the calamari rings with cooking spray or drizzle a little oil over them to promote browning.
Cook the calamari in the preheated air fryer for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time, until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serve with a squeeze of lemon, some chopped parsley and your tartar sauce.

Tartar Sauce
100ml vegan mayonnaise
1 small shallot, finely chopped
½ lemon juice
2 tbsp parsley, chopped
1 tbsp Opies Capers, finely chopped
1 tbsp Opies Cocktail Gherkins, finely chopped
Calamari
300g squid tubes
200ml milk
75g plain flour
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 eggs, beaten
Cooking spray or oil for greasing
